Volunteer Work at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club
Shaughnessy has historically been ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in Canada – and has hosted both the Men’s and Women’s Canadian Open five times since 1948. Many refer to Shaughnessy as Canada’s Augusta National of the West.
Over the past 15 years Gordon Horsman has been the Chairman of the Building and Infrastructure Committee. In that capacity he has overseen the complete renovation of the interiors of the 55,000 square foot Clubhouse as well as the extensive patios and the many out-buildings including the tennis facilities.
This work was completed in six phases, and was done in a manner so as not to create any Special Assessments to some 1,500 members. Mr. Horsman has been responsible to develop the concept plans with the designers, create detailed budgets consistent with Board-driven targets, overseen the construction process, and to communicate with the members by way of presentation materials and providing updates.
